1988 BMW M535 i AC Schnitzer S5 3.5 / 1/500 / E34 /

Description: In the early 90's BMW lacquered the prestige and history that today surrounds its M5 model. The car had just entered it secon generation in the E34 but the Motorsport department was no longer the only ones to modify BMW's. Enter AC Schnitzer. A company that was founded just 4 years prior, in 1987. The compant had great sucsess in motorsport and built a few complete cars of their own on BMW platforms. But mainly focused on 'speed parts' for the Bavarian brand.

In 1991 AC Schnitzer turned to the E34 for another special build to be named S5. Three versions were presented a 3.5l, a 3.7l and a 3.7l 'siluette'. This car beeing a 3.5L car. The car was based on the ordinary 535 but with a heavily revised version of the regular cars 3,5l engine pushing 180kw thanks to better breathing both from intake and exhaust.

The exterior was not left unduched either. A bespoke bodykit consisting of bumpers front and rear, sideskirts and a wing. To complete the look a silver accent stripe runs accross the sides of the car and descreet badging un the front fenders. In back a prominent S5 badge.

The interior in a grey cloth with AC Schnitzer wood inlays in the dash, doors and center consol. A wonderful touch is the wood steering wheel.

It is estimated that 500 cars were built to S5 specification, making this one of the rarest om the fast BMW sedans. Ever. To put it into perspective BMW's M devision built over 12,000 M5's. And there will be no more. In early 2026 AC Schnitzer announced that they will be closing their doors. In a growing world of electric and hybrid cars the market share for companies like AC Schnitzer grows ever smaller. SO this is a reare oppertunity to grab a unique slize of BMW history!
