Welcome to MX-5-Community,

for sale is my Mazda MX-5 NA 1.6 from 1990 in balloon red. The MX-5 has been extensively converted over the years and has been technically optimized in many places.

In 2023, the vehicle has reliably completed a Balkan tour. In this course, the outer skin was repainted in Kosovo. The paint is not perfect and has some impurity, but quite worth seeing overall.

The Mattig SSF low-bed rims were already installed and registered in combination with a TA-Technix chassis. Over the years, numerous further reconstructions and renewals were added:

Engine / Cooling

- cylinder head seal incl. Works renewed at 195,000 km - SPS Oil Cooler Kit - IL Motorsport Water Cooler + Silicone Water Hose - IL Motorsport Cooling Water Reroute Kit incl. other thermostat - IL Motorsport sandwich plate with oil temperature transmitter - Oil change all 5,000 km with Liqui Moly 10W-60 currently due - Tank venting system Delete, existing parts are included - Adapter plate for additional water temperature sensor - Varta battery from 2024

Transmission / clutch

- Xtreme Clutch Stage 1 - Renewed gear oil during clutch change - Renewed gear sealing rings, insulation materials and dust protection sleeves - Pilot camp at the flywheel renewed

differential / drive

- Cusco Type RS 1,5-Way LSD from Japan with about 60% blocking effect - NA 1.8 Differential housing with welded aluminium lid - Differential and Powerframe screws replaced with new original screws - Differential stored in Powerflex PU jacks - Differential lid, cardan shaft and powerframe powder coated - Castrol 80W-140 LSD oil

Brakes

- EBC Groove Discs + Red Stuff Suspension at the front axle (no approval) - Skid Nation brake cooling with self-developed adapter for the GV lip

Exterior / Interior

- GV lip (no admission) - IL Motorsport KG-Ducktail in car colour - Renewed top when buying - Additional indications for oil temperature, water temperature and suction tube pressure - Gas pedal widening for Heel-and-Toe

The small BBK exhaust system as well as a bowled Luisi 350mm wild leather steering wheel incl. Nabe registered.

Known defects

One or both rims on the rear axle have been hit since the purchase.

The exhaust manifold is lightweight on the flange. Since the throttling flap has been cleaned, the engine has a little bad gas in the cold start and there is a small power loss up to 4000 rpm.

Despite renewed gaskets, the vehicle is sweating some oil somewhere. I could not locate the exact cause so far.

The tank panel in the interior at the softtop was cut out by the previous owner for additional speakers. As a result, there are two larger holes in the sheet metal and in the overlying carpet.

The MX-5 is now released and dry in a garage and waits for a new owner who has as much pleasure as I.

Due to the modifications and the shortcomings mentioned, it is not a perfect vehicle, but an extensively converted NA for someone who is looking for something like this and has fun to tackle the last open points themselves.
