Mazda MX-5 NA 1.6 in Marina Blue – elaborately restored, H-mark, Classic data evaluation

A Mazda MX-5 NA 1.6 is available in the original colour Marina Blue. The vehicle does not have ABS or power steering or electric window lifters, and is therefore the lightest and rarest of the most original equipment variants of the MX-5. The focus is on the unprecedented driving experience for which the first MX-5 generation is still estimated.

The car was completely restored and technically reworked. The known grate weakening points of the MX-5 in the region of the rear wheel races and of the threshold ends were repaired professionally and expensively. The areas concerned were completely replaced and not merely cosmetically revised. All works are documented by an extensive photo documentation.

In the course of restoration, the vehicle received a complete repainting as well as a new fabric top. In addition, the bumpers were renewed. A new original Mazda rod was installed on the front. At the back, the rear was retrofitted to a European bumper with recess for the fog-closing lamp required in Germany, which was retrofitted accordingly.

Technically, a great deal of emphasis was placed on sustainability and reliability. The engine was maintained and sealed at the relevant points. Tooth belts and water pump have been renewed. The brake system was reworked at the front and rear and supplemented with steel flex brake lines.

The chassis bushings frequently worn during the MX-5 age have been completely replaced. All transverse links and axle components were exchanged for high-quality powder-coated axle parts. The original vulcanized rubber bushings were replaced by high-quality SuperPro polyurethane bushings to achieve significantly higher durability.

In all works, care was taken to preserve the originality of the vehicle as much as possible. Only where the durability and technical quality are beneficial, meaningful improvements have been made.

The vehicle has an H-approval and therefore an H-mark. A current classic data vehicle rating is also available.

Important advice on the speedometer stand: The vehicle has an original mileometer as a US model.

Note to the front plate: The license plate is currently mounted on a towing mount. The background is that a new original Mazda front bumper was installed during restoration and no holes were made for a license plate holder. The future owner can therefore decide whether the bumper is to remain unchanged or a fixed license plate holder is to be mounted.
