In February 1984, this vehicle was ordered by a US soldier stationed in Germany via Hahn Sportwagen GmbH at Porsche and handed over to Porsche on 23.08.1984 with 20 kilometers of works at Porsche AG – Zuffenhausen plant – as part of a factory delivery and with guidance through the plant.
The order via Hahn Sportwagen GmbH is also interesting from a historical point of view: Hahn was one of the first Porsche dealers worldwide and had already been the Porsche General Representative since 1950. The special connection between Hahn and Porsche dates back to the early years of the brand: At a time when Porsche did not have its own sales network in Germany, Porsche vehicles were sold via Hahn. From 1969 onwards, Hahn was also active as a Porsche central dealer for Baden-Württemberg, thereby enabling selected buyers to gain insight into production.
The further history of the vehicle is also exceptional... After the end of the service period of the US soldier in Germany, he took the vehicle to the United States in 1988, where it remained in possession until 2012. In mid-2012, sales were back to Germany. In April 2014, a doctor from NRW was admitted. The vehicle has been registered to this day.
On 04.11.2014, the convertible received the review of the Oldtimer according to § 23 StVZO.
The vehicle also has matching numbers and is thus in the original delivery state with regard to the engine and transmission.
The on-board tool, the on-board folder including the user manual and the care pass are available in addition to various invoices and TÜV reports.
Background to U.S. vehicle history For many American soldiers stationed in Germany, it was quite common to take vehicles purchased during their service in Germany when they returned to the United States. For U.S. military personnel there was the possibility of transporting a privately used vehicle to state costs during a service-related change of location (PCS). As early as 1967, the U.S. Court of Auditors explicitly stated that a vehicle of a military personnel could be transferred at the expense of the U.S. during such a change; The US customs rules at the time provided additional duty-free import of personal goods for U.S. military personnel at the end of a longer foreign operation. This enabled many military personnel to import even higher-priced vehicles to the United States, which would not have been readily affordable for a large part of the American population at that time.

Conclusion Well-kept specimens of this era are enjoying a growing popularity among collectors and lovers of classic sports cars, and this vehicle makes the bar extremely high for comparable vehicles. Our specimen is absolutely authentic and has an exceptionally long and comprehensible property history: The first owner held the vehicle from 1984 to 2012 for over 28 years before it passed into the property of today's owner, which has been owned by the vehicle for 12 years. This means that the vehicle has been owned by only two holders for 42 years. It was also manufactured for the German market, which further underlines its potential value.
