1991 928 S4 Japan Exclusive Edition – one of only 50 copies produced!

Available from now on: an extremely rare 1991 928 S4 Exclusive Edition, equipped with the rare equipment code XX8 (expanded GTS-style wheelhouses). This is a truly unique specification: Although it is a model year 1991, the vehicle has the “Widebody” body of the GTS variant – a body design that was only available for the rest of the world (ROW) in 1992! (USA only 1993). Porsche built only 79 of these vehicles in 1992: 1 for the USA, 28 for Europe and 50 for Japan!

The vehicle looks fantastic and is in an excellent condition. maintenance history is completely documented; Thus, for example, the toothed belt and the water pump were renewed at 127.125 km, and at 133.574 km, the vehicle was subjected to a thorough inspection at the Porsche Zentrum Hofheim and was found technically satisfactory. All maintenance accounts of the last 11 years are available; the vehicle is in a technically excellent condition.

The vehicle is elaborately equipped with details from the “Exclusive” section, including ornamental elements made of root wood on the center console, the door trims and the shift lever as well as an extended leather finish and a special lacquering. During the boom of the “Mega-Widebody” models in the 1980s, the 928 was a popular object for tuners like Strosek, Gemballa and Koenig; it gives the rounded 928 a more angular appearance, reminded of a Ferrari or Lamborghini. But these versions were so popular – the most elegant and beautiful version of the 928 came from Porsche itself! Only a few are known that the widened rear wings (the ‘GTS-Widebody’) were designed in 1990 and were available through the ‘special’ program of the manufacturer (option code XX8).

Mizwa – the exclusive Porsche importer for Japan – ordered fifty of these vehicles for the 1991 model year. They were identically equipped but differentiated in color and should be sold alongside the standard 928 with narrow body as factory-side “mega-Widebody” models. The body modification proved so popular that Porsche took over it as standard equipment for the last 928 version: the Widebody GTS, which was produced between 1992 and 1995. Collectors therefore consider the XX8 S4 as the “Missing Link” and as the ultimate transition model.

Although the contemporary Keskin KT2 rims are not factory originals, they fit perfectly to the vehicle and sit perfectly thanks to the correct hole circle and the matching press-in depth. These rims have recently been equipped with new Pirelli P-Zero tires with N identification. The original 16-inch rims are also included. In addition, the vehicle was recently equipped with Bilstein B6 sports shock absorbers, and the audio system was upgraded by modern original Porsche components; the original audio components are not included. The vehicle is in excellent condition and impresses with a clear, uniform paint as well as a clean, odour-neutral interior. It is excellent, offers plenty of power and a quiet, stable idling.

With a mileage of around 136,000 km, the vehicle is presented in a better condition than it suggests age and running performance! The contemporary Keskin rims are a wonderful addition that makes the factory-side widebody look outstanding! Other upgrades include an audio system. The vehicle is largely in its original condition and was obviously always treated with care.
