Here my loyal companion of recent years, which is now only extremely rare in the configuration, will be offered, but I will sell because of my growing family of heart. This A8 comes from the last model year 2002, so in the expansion stage both model care has taken, which is expressed, for example, in that it is equipped with park sensors both at the front and at the back (a real comfort gain in a car of this size) and also modern features such as Isofix (a blessing for every child transport!).

What makes this A8 special? Whoever wants to use his car in everyday life, not only on Sunday trips, is right here: The powerful six-cylinder, which was amplified with the last facelift on 179 hp, is still very cumbersome and at the same time extremely economical – as with my profile on Spritmonitor.de (the direct link to posting this platform unfortunately does not allow me to), I arrive at an average consumption of 6.40 liters for over 40000 km! The running costs are therefore significantly lower than with the petrol equivalents, while at the same time 90 liters of diesel fit into the tank – I once drove from the Italian genoa to my home and then refueled in Poland, all no problem for the car. We used our companion virtually exclusively for the long distance, as my wife and I regularly visit our families in NRW and East. For everyday life we drive with a gasoline, the A8 is usually in the garage.

The combination of longevity and everyday suitability is helpful: The car has a manual transmission, which already eliminates a great weakness of the series, namely the often susceptible automatic transmission at the age. Compared to the large 3.3-liter eight-cylinder engine, the 2.5 TDI engine has the advantage that the engine also existed in the smaller group brothers, making the spare parts supply much more pleasant. In general, the car is remembered that it still originates from a time when the German carmakers were still paying attention to longevity and quality, there is not for nothing sufficient A8 D2 on the net, which comes to 500 000 km of running performance and more. There are no zig-fold sensors on board, no belt, lane, tire pressure, speed warnings and the like. You can drive away your paths and are not yet measured, there are also correct buttons, no “touch” – who can still recover something from the analog driving feeling will feel secret.

In addition, a diesel particle filter has been retrofitted to this A8, which, in contrast to the other diesel models, allows a green plaque.

In the last few years I have already carried out multiple works which were due after more than 20 years, among others: 2022 the lighting machine, a new engine cooler, new shock absorbers and a new toothed belt were renewed. In 2023, four new summer tyres were purchased by Michelin and a new windshield washing system, the cylinder heads and camshafts have also been replaced before 20 000 km (the biggest weakness of the engine will probably not have to worry in the next 250 000 km :-). In 2024, the current Tüv followed and a wax preservation of the underbody. The fact that punctual oil changes and services have been carried out in the years is not yet to be mentioned in detail; the checkbook is of course available as well as the invoices of the works and tank documents carried out in a folder.

As can be seen in the last pictures, there is a small paint damage on the hood. There is also a few millimeters small dent on the trunk. However, the mentioned things are only cosmetic; After 24 years, the paint might get a professional polish again, then you could get rid of the small defects – I have never disturbed myself, but I do not want to mention them. The car is moved at all seasons and goes to 300 000 km of running performance, it is not a museum piece. The A8 is also still driven, so the kilometer level is constantly changing.
